UNITED NATIONS ECONOMIC COMMISSION FOR AFRICA FELLOWSHIPS

GENERAL INFORMATION

ECA is the regional arm of the United Nations in Africa. Its mandate is to promote the social and economic 

development of Africa. 

ECA is inviting applications from qualified young African Professionals in new technologies, including ICT.

Candidates applying for the position must be below 36 years of age at the time of the application.

CONDITIONS

1. Open only to nationals of United Nations Economic Commission for Africa member states

2. Fellows will receive a monthly stipend of USD 3,000. Fellows will be provided with a return air tickets

3. The fellowship may be extended

2015 Ford Motor Company International Fellowship

Study Subject (s): Fellowships are provided in nonprofit management strategy and leadership training.

Course Level: This is intensive three-week residency fellowship program.

Scholarship Provider: Ford Motor Company and 92nd Street Y, USA

Eligibility: Applicants must be 21 years of age or older, with several years of leadership experience. We seek candidates from a variety of backgrounds with the aim of creating a group of Fellows who will work well together and offer a diversity of views and experiences. Candidates should be emerging leaders addressing issues whose resolution can have a significant positive impact on their communities, on their countries, and—collectively—on the world.

Scholarship Open for International Students: Students from Brazil, People’s Republic of China, Ghana, India, Israel, Kenya, Malaysia, Poland and Russian Federation can apply for the fellowships.

Number of award(s): Each year, a group of 20-24 emerging leaders from different regions of the world are selected.

Duration of award(s): Fellowships will be offered for the intensive three-week residency.

What does it cover? The fellowships will provide airfare, accommodation, food, transportation, instruction and other program-related expenses are included in the fellowship. Each participant receives a stipend upon arrival.

University of London (SOAS) MA Scholarships

Candidate Criteria
Applicants should:
  • Be nationals of and resident in an African country 
  • Hold an undergraduate degree at the first class level 
  • Have a confirmed, unconditional offer of admission to pursue one of the eligible programmes at SOAS by the scholarship application deadline.

2014 NYERERE AFRICAN UNION SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME

For Masters and PhD Programmes in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Education Science (STEME)

The Mwalimu Nyerere African Union Scholarship Scheme was launched in 2007 with the aim of contributing to the production and retention of high caliber African human capital for sustainable development of the continent in critical development areas, while promoting regional integration through intra-African mobility of students.

To encourage the participation of young African female students at postgraduate level, for Masters and PhD programmes in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Education Science (STEME), the Commission of the African Union is offering the second Special Call for Scholarship Applications to study in reputable African Universities.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

To be eligible for the Special Scholarship, a candidate must:

i. Be a Female Citizen of an African Union Member State

ii. Be under the age of thirty five (35) years for Masters Programmes; and under forty (40) years for PhD Programmes.

iii. Be a holder of a Bachelor’s Degree in the relevant field, at the level of Upper Second Class Honours for a Masters’ Programme; and a holder of Masters’Degree in the relevant field for a PhD Programme. The degree must be from a reputable University

iv. Have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement as evidenced by academic transcripts, and academic awards if any.

v. Have proof of admission to undertake a full time Masters or PhD programme in a recognized university of an African Union Member State.

vi. Be willing to commit to work in an African Union Member State on completion of studies for at least three (3) years.

Fellowships to Promote Research on the Legal Framework for Civil Society

The International Center for Not-for-Profit Law (ICNL) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) are pleased to announce the availability of 4 new research fellowships. The fellowships will provide the opportunity to travel to Washington, DC for 3-4 weeks during June/July/August 2014 to conduct research on the legal framework for civil society. The fellowships are open to applicants from:
Burundi, Kenya, Nigeria, Senegal, Tanzania, Uganda
