About University of Ghana
The University of Ghana is the oldest and largest of Ghana's universities. It was founded in 1948 as an affiliate college of the University of London. It gained full university status in 1961.
The University is based at Legon, about twelve kilometers northeast of the center of Accra. 
The current chancellor of the University is Kofi Annan: the 7th Secretary General of the United Nations and a co-recipient of the 2001 Nobel Peace prize.

The University offers a variety of sporting activities including: football, basketball, hockey, volleyball, rugby and tennis. A state-of-the-art gymnasium and swimming pool are available on the campus.
The University Hospital is the main health provider on campus. The hospital consists of an Out-patient department, X-ray department, a Laboratory, a Pediatric ward, Emergency and Dental units. Specialist doctors are available to attend to students when need arises and services for students are free.
Students may visit eateries in and around campus where local and foreign dishes are served. The International Students’ Hostel has kitchen facilities for those who would like to cook for themselves.
